Update: Controlling the Invasive Plants Strategy for Long Lake

As you know, 2014 was a busy year for moving forward on the new strategy for treating the invasive species in Long Lake. With the support and feedback from lake residents at the 2014 Cheboygan Long  Lake Area Association (CLLAA) Annual Meeting, the Aloha Township proceeded with establishing a special assessment zone and subsequent activities to begin treatments in Long Lake in 2015.
PLM Lake & Land Management Corporation has been contracted by the Aloha Township Board to implement the township’s plan to control invasive species beginning in June 2015. Tony Groves of Progressive AE (speaker at the 2014 CLLAA Annual Meeting) will coordinate and manage this control plan for the next five years.
PLM mailed to all long Lake stakeholders (responsible tax payers) an initial mailer titled NOTICE 2015. This notice is required by Michigan State regulations and was provided to inform lake residents of types of herbicides that could be used. However, it is important to note that only one of the Tricloyr family will be used for the Eurasian Milfoil in Long Lake. Tony Groves has provided specific information on this process in two documents that are attached to this newsletter. They are “. . .Commonly Asked Questions” and “Eurasian Milfoil”. Tony will be at the annual meeting and available for your questions and comments. If you have questions prior to the Annual Meeting (scheduled for Saturday, June 27, see below), contact David Warriner, President, CLLAA at either 231-625-2907 or email david.warriner@hotmail.com. He will forward those questions to Tony.
